Closed - above. Push the black handle to the right, and the inner piece pops up. Spring provides energy for movement. Push the "Surprise" piece back down and it catches - ready to surprise someone again.
Problem with design? Some people don't notice the arrow reversed out of the little lever on the right, and just don't seem to know what to do with it.Early Surprise Box from Don Olney on Vimeo.
